Golf Books

Golf is a fantastic game and one of the few sports that allows players of differing abilities to genuinely play competitively against each other. There have been plenty of inspirational players over the years- Woods, Nicklaus, Watson, Palmer etc and golf has attracted a huge following. As a result of the huge following golf has attracted, there is a whole mass of golf literature that has been written, from technical guides to biographies. If you fancy reading some golf books, here are a few ideas of where to start and some specific books to read.

Golf Technique Books

How do you learn to have the perfect backswing off the tee or the precision of a putting pro? The good news is that there are lots of guides out there that teach how to improve the technical side of your game, which can really help you shoot lower rounds. Even experienced players have technical faults that they never realise, and reading up on it is definitely time well spent.

Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf by Ben Hogan
Ben Hogan believed that any player of average coordination can learn to break 80, as long as though worked at their game patiently and intelligently. This book analyses posture, stance, grip and two different components of swing and could make a real difference to your golfing game.

The Mental Game

Any golfer knows that as well as having good technique, the mental side of the game is very important- lone small loss of concentration can have a dramatic adverse impact upon your round. The mental game may not sound as though it can be coached, but in reality it can and there are plenty of books that can teach you how to improve the mental side of your game.

Zen Golf: Mastering the Mental Game by Joseph Parent
Professional golfers have incredible levels of confidence and concentration that helps them get the very best out of their games. Dr. Joseph Parent uses Buddhist teachings to help you implement a “mental game mastery” into your own golfing arsenal.

Golfing Biographies

Reading golf books that can help teach us how to improve our games are great to read, but if you want to read more for entertainment, you could do a lot worse than read some of the biographies of the world’s greatest ever players.

Jack Nicklaus: My Story
The career that Jack Nicklaus had was simply incredible – 18 incredible major victories and some of the most memorable moments in golf. I can’t think of many players that would be more interesting to read about.
