Fishing Books

If you are a keen fisherman, then you should really consider reading some fishing books, as you can learn an awful lot from other fisherman. Learning from other fisherman can not only be really interesting, but can give you information that should help you improve your own performance giving you more productive fishing time. Because there are so many different types of fishing, there is a massive array of different fishing books available for you to read you can be pretty sure you will never be bored. If you are struggling to think of where to start, here are some ideas to start your reading:

Reading About a Type of Fishing that you Already Do
This is probably the most logical type of fishing book to read, as reading an expert’s opinion on a type of fishing that you already do could really improve your chances every time you go fishing. I do quite a bit of trout fishing, but it was only after reading a couple of books on the subject that my fishing performances became pretty good. Fishing knowledge takes a lifetime to accumulate, so it makes sense to pick the brains of those who have already spent a lifetime doing it than to have to work it out all for yourself.

Read About a New Type of Fishing
Part of becoming a good angler is to become skilled across a range of different fishing disciplines, and reading about a new discipline in a specialist fishing book is a great way of doing this. You will quickly find that a lot of the skills that require are exactly the same or very similar- much of the basic knowledge is the same, as is the requirement for patience and determination. I used to spend most of my time fly fishing alone, but have since picked up sea fishing and enjoy it just as much as my fly fishing. As well as the satisfaction of becoming skilled in another discipline, being able to fish in different ways gives you more variety in your fishing as you fish in different locations when you feel like it.

Beginner Fishing Books
If you are new to fishing then it is very sensible to read some basic fishing books to help you get off to a good start. Basics such as knowing how to tie good knots and how to bait hooks may seem very simple but they are important parts of fishing.

Entertaining Fishing Books
As well as fishing books that can teach you new things, there are also plenty of fishing books that are written for entertainment as well. Some relate the brilliantly eccentric characters that have been associated with the sport over the years, whilst others create fictional characters that get into situations that all fishermen can sympathise with. Alternatively you can read some of the great fishing stories about anglers who have shown incredible persistence and have made amazing catches- great inspiration for the armchair fisherman.
