Computers have evolved at a phenomenal rate over the past twenty years or so which is great in terms of pushing human kind forwards, but it does create a few problems as well. For those of us bought up in the computer generation everything is pretty easy- using computers is second nature, but for those who haven’t it must seem like every time that they get to grips with computers, they change or get updated and they have to start over. Thankfully there a great range of computer books out there, catering for a wide range of different levels of computer literacy. Modern technology is great, but it is only great if you can use it comfortably and you can get the most out of it- this is where computer books come in. If you are interested in reading computer books, then here are some ideas to get you started and point you in the right direction.
Basic Guides
You can buy plenty of computer books that will teach you how to get to grips with computers. Learning to use email, create documents and print them out are things that many people are bought up with, but it isn’t as easy if you weren’t bought up with a computer at every desk. These guides are often operating software specific- i.e. you can buy a guide that will take you around Windows 7 or Windows Vista, which means all of the details and illustrations will be more specific to your computer than general computer books, which makes learning much easier.
Specific Software Guides
As well as learning to use computers in general, you can buy computer books that will help you with specific software packages. For example, you can buy books that will help you get to grips with a specific version of Microsoft Office, which will really help you get the most out of the programme. Some pieces of software are really quite complicated, so computer books are really quite necessary- learning php or html (languages used in web design) from scratch for example is really quite difficult so a specific guide can make your life a lot easier.
Hardware Guides
For those really computer literate geniuses, hardware guides can help explain how computers work, and how to boost their performance to higher levels. Only really appropriate if you are a great with computers, but these skills are actually really valuable as it is a really niche topic.
