Kids Art and Craft Books
A great way of getting kids interested in art is to consider some of the arts and crafts books that are available. These often contain really great guides that can help children make practical or decorative objects relatively easily, helping them unleash their imagination and creativity. Most kids won’t sit there with an easel and canvas because they don’t find it very interesting or useful- give them something fun to make and you will ignite their interest.
Art Guides
If you are an artist, then you can never stop learning more techniques and skills. You can buy books that will help you improve the technical side of your artwork that are specific to different artistic techniques. For example, you may work with watercolours, yet learning about painting with oils could help you incorporate new ideas and affects into your work. Alternatively, you could just buy a specific guide for the type of techniques that you are interested in and try and master the skills of that discipline.
History of Art
For a more generalised read about art, you can buy books that trace the history of art itself. Whether you have a general interest in art, or want to impress your friends and family with your cultural knowledge, a broad brush history of art could be ideal. The great thing about taking a general approach is that you can then drill down in more detail on those eras of art that particularly interest you.
